Endoscopy

The visualisation of the inside of a hollow organ - e.g. oesophagoscopy for visualisation of the oesophagus, gastroscopy for the stomach, colonoscopy for the colon, bronchoscopy for the bronchial tree/lungs, cystoscopy for the bladder. The endoscopic procedure is nowadays carried out using a fibreoptic 'telescope'.
