Salvage radiotherapy in radical prostatectomy patients with persisting or rising PSA

There is a definite salvage cure rate for patients with localised relapse after surgery, usually defined by a slowly appearing PSA and negative staging for metastatic disease.

Anything up to 50% can again achieve an undetectable PSA in the blood and up to a quarter achieve a salvage cure. The earlier that the treatment is initiated, the better the chance.
