The routine use of chemotherapy after surgery for soft tissue sarcopmas is not established therapy. In an attempt to use the chemotherapy mopre successfully, several trials have looked at the use of ‘up-front’ chemotherapy (in an attempt to shrink the tumour prior to operation and hence make it easier to resect completely and perhaps kill off any latent metastastic disease. Suffice it to say that these trials are not very convincing at persuading us that this should be the way forward as yet.
