An analysis of six generations of a population of Karain suggests that mesothelioma is probably transmitted as an autosomal dominant. |In this population malignant mesothelioma is the cause of death in up to 50% of rhe people. In this study, carried out by workers from University of Chicago, the building material: erionite was a probable cofactor. Whether this study's findings apply to sufferers outside this small Turkish community is not established.
