In the recent American Society of Clinical Oncolgy (ASCO) meeting in Florida, data were presented that showed clearly that the combination of paclitaxel and carboplatin was superior to paclitaxel alone. Not only were the responses double (30% versus 16%)in the combination arm of the trial but there was a significant prolongation of overall survival favouring combination chemotherapy (Proc ASCO 2002 Abstract 2).
