Cis-platin gel injections demonstrate responses in primary liver cancer (Hepatocellular Carcinoma)
For as many as 80% of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, the disease is beyond operation.
Intradose injectable gel, consists of the chemotherapy agent cis-paltinum and the vasoconstrictor epinephrine/adrenaline in a viscous biodegradable gel made from bovine collagen. It is designed to deliver the drug directly to the tumour in a hig hdose concentration and prevent the drug reaching the blood stream in high concentration. Research is underway as to its usefulness in these patients.
