Capecitabine plus Taxotere in metastatic breast cancer

At the 23rd San Antonio Breast cancer symposium, data were presented that showed that the addition of capecitabine to docetaxel/taxotere (one of the taxane group of cytotoxic chemotherapy agents that is showing such great promise in breast cancer) led to better responses and survival in metastatic breast cancer, that had proved resistant to anthracycline based chemotherapy , than docetaxel/taxotere alone. It is becoming clear that taxane based chemotherapy is best for patients relapsing after the classic first line chemotherapy agents such as FEC/FAC or CMF.
