Amifostine as a Radio- and Chemo- Protector

The sulphydryl containing agent: amifostine has been recently demonstrated to reduce the incidence of acute toxicity (e.g. pneumonitis and oesophagitis) during radical/curative chemo-radiotherapy programmes for lung cancer.
