It is the first hospital to install the revolutionary CyberKnife® robotic radiotherapy system which can target many tumours that were previously difficult or impossible to treat with conventional machines. CyberKnife® has a special tracking system and delivers radiation to tumours with sub millimetre accuracy.
The centre was also the first hospital in the region to install two of the very latest RapidArc® radiotherapy machines that allow far faster, and again, very much more precise targeting/treatment than older machines.
The new London Gamma Knife Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital HCA has the latest precision Gamma Knife machine used to treat brain cancers whilst on the 15th floor of University College Hospital, HCA has its joint venture blood and bone cancer centre.
