Stages of bone tumours

The oncologist will want to know if the tumour is confined to bone, whether it has spread outside the bone into the surrounding muscles (best assessed on MRI of the area) or whether it has spread further afield. With respect to distant spread, most sarcomas spread first to the lungs - best assessed by CT scannof the chest.
